洋書の歯のある小説から |

今回紹介するのは
1960頃の出版されたとても古いが名著である
C.S.LewisのOut of the silent planetというもの。
いくつかの洋書を見たが
歯[teeth]のでてくるフレーズで美しくて面白い表現を探していたが
なかなかでて来ない。
30分程度みていたらようやく一文に出くわすことができた。
その前にこの小説にでてきた文を2、3紹介する。
まず始めから読者をひきつけるこういうフレーズの話から始まる。
THE LAST DROPS of the thundershower had hardly ceased falling when the Pedestrian stuffed his map into his poket, settled his pack more comfortably on his tired shoulders, and stepped out from the shelter of a large chestnut-tree into the middle of the road.
こういう文章も好きな人がいるかもしれない。
Divine indicated his massive and loud-voice companion. 'The Weston,' he added. 'You know.The great Physcist. Has Einstein on toast and drinks a pint of Schrodinger's blodd for break fast....
2つだけ歯科(^-^!汗)、紹介しきれなかったが、
この他にも面白い表現が続くのだがteethの在る
面白いフレーズを探していると
teethという語は [ee]の部分が
see
tree
between
やら頻出語とも重なっているのでteethを発見した!と
一瞬勘違いの喜びをすることが多いが、
繰り返しているうちにやっと面白い表現を見つけることができた。

He was struck by vivid contrast between harandra and handramit. Like a rope of jewels the gorge spread beneath him, purple, sapphire blue, yellow and pinkish white,a rich and variegated inlay of wooded land and disappearing, reappearing, ubiquitous water.
